The Drama department at the University of Manchester invites applications for a Lecturer in Theatre Studies (Teaching-Focused), tenable from 1 September 2021 for a period of 36 months. We are seeking an exceptional lecturer with a track record of teaching in theatre studies at University level. Applications are invited from academics with expertise in any area of theatre studies, although preference will be given to candidates with experience of teaching across theatre study and theatre practice modules, and we are keen to enhance our teaching provision in the areas of dramaturgy, curation and producing. The successful candidate will be expected to make a strong contribution to the department’s teaching in theatre studies at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum, including: modules on theatre and performance texts, practices and concepts; global performance cultures; and modernist theatres and their legacies. They will make a contribution to the administration of the subject area under the supervision of the Head of Department. Whilst this post is teaching-focused, the Drama department has a vibrant research culture, and the successful candidate’s contribution to sustaining and extending this research culture will be supported as appropriate to the post.
