Job Description

The University of Manchester, invites applications from outstanding candidates with a proven track research record in the area of placental drug development for a position of Research Associate.  The post will be available immediately and is tenable on a fixed term basis for 12 months.

The successful applicant will contribute to a project funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation developing and testing new therapeutics to treat pregnancy complications. The Post holder will be predominantly based in The Maternal and Fetal Health Research Centre, St. Mary’s Hospital, but will work closely with colleagues in the Division of Pharmacy and Optometry.

You will have a PhD or equivalent in reproductive biology or a related biomedical discipline. You will have demonstrable research experience in molecular biology, transfections, gene knockdown and RT-qPCR, expertise in human placental tissue culture and mammalian reproductive cell biology and/or physiology, and experience of immunohistochemistry and microscopy. Additional expertise in nanoparticle synthesis and characterisation, and a developing publication record in peer-reviewed journals is advantageous.
