
A Research Associate position is available for 12 months (in the first instance) to work on the biodistribution and impact of micro/nano plastics in in vivo models, as part of a collaborative project named PLASTICHEAL and funded by the European Commission.
The aim of the project is to generate new evidence towards an evidence-based risk assessment of micro/nano plastics in order to ensure findings are turned into practical tools for policymakers. In this context, the task of the recruited researcher will be to explore the biodistribution and impact of micro/nano plastics after chronic in vivo exposure. This will be tested in both primary and secondary organs of accumulation after pulmonary and gastro-intestinal exposure.
You will work within Dr Cyrill Bussy’s research team, based in laboratories on the main University of Manchester campus. You should hold (or be nearing completion) a PhD in toxicology, pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical sciences (with a strong interest for materials) or closely related discipline. Prior experience in in vivo investigations for toxicology purpose is essential, ideally with further experience in nanomaterials or chemicals toxicology. You will have to work to strict deadlines and will possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
