
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious graduate with the ability and confidence to manage the Peatfix Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project with Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.
The University of Manchester and Yorkshire Wildlife Trust are looking to recruit a Project Officer to undertake this 24 month project which has an overall aim of developing knowledge and embedding new working practices, products and techniques to support and improve peatland restoration. The position will provide the successful candidate with a unique opportunity to gain experience in managing a complex project with multiple stakeholders bridging knowledge and operations between the academic and industrial sectors to embed environmental science informed solutions to existing business challenges. They will take the lead in co-ordinating and managing this large multi stakeholder project that will reinstate functioning, peat-forming ecosystems that will restore hydrological processes, increase biodiversity, reduce flooding impacts and decrease the amount of carbon loss.
Candidates will require a minimum of a 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in Physical Geography, Environmental Science, or an associated subject.
This post is funded through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) award, a UK Government scheme intended to promote sustained and mutually beneficial relationships between universities and industry. Based at Yorkshire Wildlife Trust in York, the successful candidate will work directly with supervisors from both the University and Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and will use the facilities and resources of both organisations.
