
The John Rylands Research Institute and Library is looking for a Building and Visitor Services Coordinator (job-share) to maintain the Library’s retail offer, deliver world-class visitor services and support the care of our Grade 1 listed building.
With demonstrable experience of supervising front line staff and services in a retail or museum environment you will take responsibility for a Front of House team, a retail offer with collections at its heart and bring some knowledge or experience of building care.
This exciting and varied job share post includes leading an enthusiastic team and working with colleagues from across The University of Manchester to deliver services in line with Library’s Imagine 2030 vision.
The John Rylands Research Institute and Library is part of the University of Manchester Library. We welcome over 250,000 visitors a year who come to visit our shop, enjoy the building, collections and participate in our programmes. The Library is also used by researchers and students, who access collections and use the unique surroundings for study.

Our vast and rich collections (both print and increasingly digital) help us to deliver a world-class library and information service for the University of Manchester. Hours & Place of Work
Normal working hours are 17.5 hours per week over 3 days to include a Saturday once in every four weeks .
This post is based primarily in the John Rylands Library. However, all Library employees are required to work at any Library site, as necessary.
All Library staff are required to wear a name badge.
