
The Department of Economics at Manchester wishes to appoint two Lecturers (Teaching & Scholarship) from September 2022. These are permanent positions.
We wish to appoint innovative, engaging and dynamic colleagues who will be able to enhance the quality of our teaching and improve the student experience at Manchester. The candidates will be responsible for mainly UG units in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and potentially Mathematics and Statistics units. Amongst these units will be large and compulsory core units for economics students. Your responsibility will be course design, formative and summative assessment design, VLE design and delivery of large and small group teaching and coordination of the teaching team.
In addition to the teaching responsibilities colleagues will be expected to contribute to the program management and general teaching administration in the Economics department. Colleagues appointed at the Senior Lecturer position will be expected to do so at a senior level.
Colleagues will also contribute to developing economic resources relating to generic study and employability skills and will be involved in other administrative and pastoral duties.

Career progression on the Teaching & Scholarship is attainable through all the usual levels. Colleagues on the Scholarship track are expected to actively engage with and contribute to the pedagogic literature on economics teaching in HE. Career progression will be based on excellence in teaching, teaching innovation, service and leadership as well knowledge transfer and external engagement.
