
The National Graphene Institute is an established UK facility supporting graphene and 2D materials research and development. The Institute is part of an overall investment, building on the strong, and rapidly-expanding, UK research in this field and aims to take this research through to commercial success. The institute, funded through EPSRC and ERDF, offers access to specialist facilities and equipment including state-of-the-art cleanrooms which enable the fabrication of novel micro- and nano-devices with potential applications in a wide range of industries. We are seeking for an enthusiastic and proactive Senior Technician to join our dynamic technical operations team, which strives to provide a sector leading technical support for the NGI and the wider University., You will provide an agile technical support service to staff and researchers, they will act as a key contact for analytical instrumentation within the institute, be able to train and assist researchers in a wide variety of chemical processes including but not limited to wet etching, chemical modification of graphene & proper handling of samples within a glovebox.
You will have oversight of the day to day running of a number of labs within the institute supporting multi-disciplinary research groups with their specialist chemical knowledge. A proactive and energetic approach is important, as is an ability to establish a good rapport with students, staff, external customers, and visitors.
An Undergraduate degree, or equivalent qualification, in a chemical science and/or relevant experience of working in either a manufacturing or research facility environment. With a strong expertise in health and safety matters related to chemical handling.
