The team
The Network team sits within the core area of Engineering in IT Services, providing underpinning network services and support to our customers. Our network team work closely with all parts of IT Services and throughout the University to ensure our services are consistently meeting and adapting to the changing needs of the University.
The University of Manchester is large and steeped in history and heritage, as such our IT landscape is broad and complex. From cultural institutions such as Jodrell Bank, to state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities such as the new Engineering Buildings and the National Graphene Institute, the scope of the services we provide are wide-ranging.
The role
The University of Manchester operates one of the largest single site campus networks in the UK and is currently undergoing a major transformation of all its LAN, Data Centre and DDI infrastructure.
The roles will be working under the direction of our strategic Network partner (Roc Technologies) on a day-to-day basis, you will support Level 1 & 2 management of our LAN and Data Centre networks, handling incidents and service requests across our campus as assigned.
You will work within a team comprised of both University and Roc colleagues that is focused on incident and break-fix resolution for the campus network. Day-to-day direction over tasks and priorities will come from our network partner (Roc) and you will be responsible for resolving incidents and fulfilling service requests across our LAN and Data Centre networks working in conjunction with our partner’s NOC service. You will also be working with the wider network and telecoms team to develop and continuously improve our services.
In return, the University will provide you with exposure to the latest in HPE Aruba & Arista technologies and an opportunity to contribute towards the development of one the largest software defined campus networks within the UK.
