
We are seeking to appoint a Shift Plant Operator (Building Services Technician - West) who will day-on-day be responsible for monitoring and adjusting plant to a set of prescribed instructions (“plant” will include, but not be limited to, steam raising boiler plant and its’ associated equipment). To assist all grades of Building Services Technicians in the full range of installation, improvement and maintenance activities. All work will be carried out in the most efficient manner whilst working within a frame work of “best value”
The day-on-day interrogation and adjustment of Building Management Systems (BMS), via a site based PC. Occasional visits to campus based plant rooms and other University areas, will be necessary as part of the daily shift routine, as will be the understanding, and acting upon, alarms received via the BMS/telephone or instruction (i.e. Security, Supervisors).
Relevant experience working on plant monitoring and adjustment, including steam raising boiler plant, its distribution and control accessories, OR significant experience working in an electrical, mechanical or building services related discipline.
Post holders must have training to NVQ level 2 in Engineering maintenance (or equivalent). However this may not be necessary if both sides are confident that a skill audit can be adequately undertaken to ensure that potential candidates are competent.
