Job Description

The University of Manchester is leading the Future Biomanufacturing Research Hub (Future BRH, with reseach Spokes at Imperial, UCL, Nottingham, IBioIC, CPI, and the UK Catalysis Hub. At the Future BRH we are developing industrial biotechnology towards efficient and sustainable bio-based manufacturing for key UK sectors: Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals, Engineering Materials and Fuels. By connecting interdisciplinary discovery science together with industry we are devloping innovative biomanufacturing solutions to help support the growing bio-economy.

We are looking for two Research Fellows to join our interdisciplinary team, where you will be supported to combine your individual talents and breadth of skills to develop innovative approaches for biomanufacturing. You will be based in the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology (MIB) which is a cross-disciplinary research centre and part of the University of Manchester (UoM).

As a Research Fellow, you will join an expert interdisciplinary Future BRH research team working on a mix of industrial biotechnology and biomanufacturing projects. These two new research posts will focus on developing and employing biocatalysts, and the scale up of biocatalytic processes, with a particular focus on the chemical and materials sectors. Research will involve collaborating with academic and industrial FutureBRH partner(s) as required.

Appointed at this senior research grade, you are expected to have a broad vision, creativity and experience to deliver an exciting research portfolio working collaboratively with our academic and industrial partners across multiple projects. Appointments at Grade 6 will be considered for promising candidates without the broader experience.
