Job Description

About the Role

We are looking for an innovative and proactive individual to lead a broad portfolio of activity across Planning, Compliance and Governance in a large, complex Faculty. For the right candidate this role offers a fantastic range of experience. It is challenging in the best way: you will have the chance to influence the future of one of the largest biomedical Faculties in the UK Higher Education sector, and to be directly involved in shaping and leading change across the University.

This role is all about relationships, so alongside demonstrable leadership experience, you will need to be exceptional with people, have a track record as an effective collaborator and have the ability to influence at all levels, ready to work with senior colleagues across the Faculty and beyond.  You’ll need a good understanding of how to use different types of information and data, and the ability to interpret complex information for a variety of audiences.

You will provide high-profile strategic and operational support to the Faculty Leadership team to enable the ongoing success and development of the Faculty, the achievement of its objectives and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, guidance and reporting requirements. The successful candidate will be able to blend authentic, emotionally intelligent leadership within a large and complex organisational context, working in close partnership with academic and professional services colleagues to deliver successful and impactful change.

You will drive the development and implementation of the Faculty’s strategic and operational plans, co-ordinating strategic discussions with colleagues in the Schools, Faculty and wider University and working with them to identify the changes that are needed to ensure that the Faculty builds on its considerable successes in the future. You should have good strategic awareness and experience of contributing to the development of strategy and/or improving operational delivery and change.  Solution-focused, you will be expected to develop a sound knowledge and appreciation of the University’s operations and understanding of the relationship between the sector and societal changes and day-to-day Faculty business.

Your team delivers a fast-paced, diverse portfolio of business: supporting Faculty governance, liaising with our NHS partners, fulfilling requirements for University planning and senior committees, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and providing expert advice to the Vice President and Dean, Deputy Vice President and Deputy, and Director of Faculty Operations. An ability to work at pace and to thrive in a dynamic environment will be vital.

As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status.  All appointments are made on merit.

Our University is positive about flexible working – you can find out more here
