Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Finance Directorate at the University of Manchester for a Management Accountant to support the Research Institutes and Faculty Office within the Faculty of Science and Engineering. 

The Management Accountant plays a crucial role in the success of the Institutes and responsibilities include monthly management accounts, annual budgeting and financial planning and forecasting.  As one of the key finance business partners to the Heads of Operations you will work closely with other faculty finance colleagues to provide a comprehensive level of support.  As part of that team you will also provide support to the Head of Institute Finance and the Faculty Consolidation Accountant. 

Essential Skills:

  • Possess a recognised CCAB professional accountancy qualification or equivalent. CCAB Finalists and exceptional candidates qualified by experience and with significant sector experience will also be considered.
  • Significant experience of working in an accounts preparation role with strong analytical skills to enable the production of meaningful financial reporting
  • Strong Excel Skills
  • Experience in the management and development of staff
  • Finance experience working within a large, complex organisation with the ability to work collaboratively and proactively across organisational boundaries.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage workloads effectively and apply efficient timekeeping

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working as a Business Partner
