Job Description

The Faculty of Science and Engineering seeks to employ a bp-ICAM Scientific Grants Manager. The bp-ICAM Scientific Grants Manager will manage the identification of opportunities, application for and management of grant funding within the bp International Centre for Advanced Materials (bp-ICAM), a collaboration between bp, The University of Manchester, University of Cambridge, Imperial College London and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

The post holder will manage grants already obtained and identify further opportunities, developing consortia, writing and submitting applications and negotiating contracts. This will also entail managing and developing the relationship of the bp-ICAM with Industrial, Academic and Governmental Organisations to establish useful networks and identify new opportunities that will develop the quality and timeliness of the grant opportunities. They will be required to manage and develop these essential internal and external networks.

In consultation with the Directors, Materials Scientist and Operations Manager the role holder must make recommendations and key decisions about which priorities are to be pursued to maximize the impact of the efforts of the bp-ICAM in its development as a leading International Research Centre of Excellence.

The successful candidate will be educated to PhD level or equivalent, have experience of customer oriented technical service within an academic unit/department of reasonable size, have considerable experience of working for industrial companies within the advanced materials supply chain, possess excellent IT and communication skills and an track record of successful grant application.
