Job Description

We are offering a grade 5, Lab Technician position funded by the British Heart Foundation to work on projects associated with cardiovascular and kidney disease. This is an exceptional opportunity to be part of research groups covering novel areas of vascular, kidney and heart muscle research. Research will be carried out using kidney tissue, specialised cell models, blood vessels and heart muscle, using cellular and molecular biology techniques. The successful candidate will work with several principal investigators (Dr Abigail Lay, Dr Samantha Borland, Dr David Hutchings), as well as being embedded within a thriving research environment within the Cardiovascular Division at the University of Manchester.

Experience with cell culture, western blotting, ELISAs, PCR, qPCR, histology and immunohistochemistry is essential. Research animal model maintenance and in vivo experimentation is desirable. Duties will also include preparations of solutions, buffers, and record keeping.

Successful candidates may be subject to pre-employment screening carried out on our behalf by a third party. The offer of employment will be dependent on the successful candidate passing that screening. Whilst you will be required to provide express consent at a later stage, by continuing with your application now you acknowledge that you are aware that such screening will take place, and agree to take part in the process.

As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status.  All appointments are made on merit.
