The PDRA will work on an Innovate UK Smart Grant which includes two UK industrial partners, Holiferm Limited and Star Brands. The core aim of the IUK project is to develop efficient production routes for sophorolipid biosurfactants, based on a range of low cost, waste derived and alternative feedstocks. Complementing this the project also involves the production of novel molecular forms of sophorolipids, techno-economic assessment and life cycle analysis.
