Job Description

The University of Manchester is seeking to recruit a counsellor/psychological therapist to work as part of a busy team of experienced senior counsellors, counsellors and mental health professionals providing a service to University of Manchester staff and students.

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent and be a counsellor/ IAPT worker or similar trained to at least diploma level with a minimum of 1500 post qualifying clinical hours. You will have recent experience of carrying a significant case load of 5 or more clinical contacts per day, including complex psychological issues and be accredited or eligible for accreditation with a professional body, eg. BACP, BABCP, UKCP or BPS.

You will provide brief, formulation driven psychological interventions to University students and staff using a clear relational or cognitive model and will have training and experience in assessing for and working with risk and complexity within a brief framework and managing crisis interventions.

You will have up to date knowledge of current issues in mental health, wellbeing and psychological treatments and significant training and experience in assessment, formulation and brief counselling or therapy with a particular focus on higher education or crisis settings. You will preferably be able to offer supervision and support to colleagues as appropriate.
