Job Description

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic, organised and knowledgeable mental health professional to work as part of a busy team of experienced counsellors, senior counsellors and mental health professionals providing a service to University of Manchester students and staff.

You will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker or similar with post qualifying mental health training and at least 3 years post qualifying experience, eg. in community focussed urgent care roles such as HBTT/CMHT/ A+E Liaison or similar. You will be able to work independently as well as part of a team. You will offer a daily duty/triage service to support students and staff within the university. This will include; supporting students/staff in crisis, offering risk assessment and triage, identifying those that require urgent assessment, identifying appropriate intervention within the University Counselling and Mental Health Service and/or supporting access to specialist services such as A&E, HBTT’s, CMHT’s.

You will be flexible, able to work under pressure and undertake urgent mental health and risk assessments/management and co-ordinate appropriate care plans for those with the most complex mental health conditions, often in liaison with NHS Mental Health Services, following up and maintaining contact as appropriate. You will work to build and sustain good relationships with local Mental Health Services, both NHS and 3rd sector.

In conjunction with existing mental health staff you will provide specialist mental health advice and support to colleagues and university services, for example Disability Advice and Support Service, Occupational Health and pastoral care staff alongside other awareness raising initiatives.
