Job Description

The University of Manchester Counselling and Mental Health Service is seeking four enthusiastic, committed and flexible triage and wellbeing practitioners to join our team of psychological therapists and mental health practitioners.

You will offer an empathic and psychologically informed first point of contact and access to the Counselling and Mental Health Service for students and staff via phone, face to face or on-line chat. You will provide effective triage and screening for mental health and/or psychological difficulties and identify appropriate interventions, ranging from guidance, direction and support in utilising on-line wellbeing resources to identifying and responding to risk and/or other serious vulnerabilities and escalating this to senior colleagues as appropriate.
You will also take responsibility for a range of administrative tasks associated with initial triage and effective service delivery including booking appointments, electronic record keeping and signposting.

You will have relevant training/ professional qualification in counselling, psychological interventions, mental health or similar, eg. PWP Training, IAPT Low Intensity, Counselling, APIMH, Motivational Interviewing etc. and experience of psychological and mental health screening/ assessment alongside providing mental health/wellbeing support and brief psychological interventions within a ‘front line’ psychological or mental health service or University Mental Health/ Counselling/ Wellbeing Service.
