Job Description

The Manchester Institute of Education has recently embarked on a programme of expansion. These posts are in addition to a recruitment cycle in summer 2021 that brought more than a dozen new colleagues to the department on full-time permanent contracts.  You will therefore join a team that is growing rapidly, and focused on combining high value scholarship and research with inspirational teaching. We aim to provide all of the backing and mentorship needed for you to fulfil your professional potential in a warm and collegial environment.

The Lecturer in Education posts provide ideal entry-level or early-career positions for research-focussed academics who are fully committed to students and teaching.

The Senior Lecturer in Education posts are more suited to mid-career research-focussed academics, but the expectation to be fully committed to students and teaching is the same. A more established track record in relation to the appointment criteria listed below is expected for appointees at the higher level.

All appointees will be expected to contribute to and enhance MIE’s research-led teaching in Education, and to develop a research profile consistent with the UoM’s expectations. We welcome applications from specialists in any area of Education, but we are particularly looking to make appointments in Educational Leadership because we have blossoming taught programmes in this area and we wish to enhance our research presence.

As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status.  All appointments are made on merit.

Our University is positive about flexible working – you can find out more here
