Dr Cristina Temenos and the Department of Geography are seeking an outstanding Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our dynamic research community to work with Dr. Temenos (PI) on the project Urban Crisis: Public Health at the Intersection of Economic and Social Change. The post is part of a UKRI-funded Future Leaders Fellowship, and the growing team will include the PI, Research Associate, PhD students, project partners, and an academic advisory board. The post is an opportunity for urban researchers to carry out both directed and independent comparative research on intersecting health, social, and economic crises.
You will undertake a diverse set of research tasks, including but not limited to: academic policy and grey literature reviews, conducting international fieldwork, engaging with local, regional, national and international research policy, and advocacy communities, helping to develop, organize, and deliver public and academic workshops and associated materials, engage in data analysis and preparing data for appropriate storage, co-authoring on academic publications, and developing policy relevant materials.
The role requires the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You will build strong relationships with stakeholders and colleagues (e.g. project partners, advisory board members, research participants, funders, community groups). We are looking for someone with a growing track-record in research fieldwork and publication, and excellent personal and project management skills.
This project involves significant investment of time, energy, and resources building the project team and their academic and personal development, including dedicated mentorship from within the project and the wider Geography department as well as a bespoke programme of research and career training. We will develop as a team, with the objective that the project will provide a host of engaging and unique opportunities. Therefore, the successful post holder is expected to live and work in Manchester when not conducting international fieldwork. The candidate will be supported in building a research career along the themes of the project. As such, this post is particularly aimed towards, though not limited to, early career researchers up to three years from the submission of their PhD, looking to develop their academic career.
