This is a fixed-term replacement post for a ten-month period of maternity leave in the Department of English, American Studies, and Creative Writing at the University of Manchester during the academic year 2022-23. We are seeking candidates with an excellent research record and teaching experience in Romantic and Victorian literature.

The appointed candidate will teach courses on Romantic and Victorian literature. A track record of research and research-led teaching in one of these three areas would be desirable:

The post holder will be expected to design and convene at least one specialist course at Level 3, be able to contribute to core modules (levels 1 and 2), teach on our MA Programme in English and American Studies, offer one-to-one supervision to third-year dissertation students (‘long essays’), and act as academic advisor to undergraduate students.

The appointed candidate will be based in the Department of English, American Studies and Creative Writing in the School of Arts, Languages and Cultures.

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons and all appointments will be made on merit.
