The University of Manchester invites applications for a postdoctoral Research Fellow in Natural Language Processing/Text Mining to undertake research in the area of biomedical text mining. The post is available from 1st September 2016 and will be tenable on a fixed term basis until 31st March 2018. The post is funded by BBSRC and Unilever and aims at conducting novel research into combining information extraction with cheminformatics to aid users to curate and manage the development of metabolic models. The post will be hosted at the National Centre for Text Mining (, School of Computer Science, located at the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology (

You will join the National Centre for Text Mining (NaCTeM), a leading centre in biomedical text mining, with strong links in the areas of computational biology, led by Professor Sophia Ananiadou. You should have a PhD or equivalent experience in Computer Science with an emphasis on Natural Language Processing and in particular Biomedical Text Mining, excellent programming skills and a proven track record of publications in high quality scientific journals. Previous experience of working in a multidisciplinary research team would be advantageous.
