We are recruiting a Research Associate to work on an ESRC-funded research project, ‘Latin American Antiracism in a “Post-Racial” Age”. The project is co-directed by Professor Peter Wade (University of Manchester) and directed by Dr Monica Moreno Figueroa (University of Cambridge). You will be based at the University of Manchester and will carry out 4 months of preparatory work in Manchester, followed by 9-10 months of fieldwork research in either Brazil or Colombia, and ending with 10 months of analysis and writing in Manchester.
Applications are invited from candidates who, by 15 December 2016, will have completed a PhD in Sociology, Social Anthropology or a related subject (or be able to show equivalent research experience). You will need to be fluent in Spanish or Portuguese and have an excellent command of English. You will need experience of carrying out fieldwork or first-hand data collection. Experience of working in Latin America, ideally Colombia or Brazil, would be an advantage. Applications are particularly welcome from those with research expertise in a related topic area and with experience of qualitative interviewing.
As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. However, as black and minority ethnic (BME) candidates are currently under-represented at this level in this area, we would particularly welcome applications from BME applicants. All appointments will be made on merit.
Please note that we are unable to respond to enquiries, accept CV's or applications from Recruitment Agencies
