A Research Associate is required to support Professors Stephen Hutchings and Vera Tolz who, with colleagues from the Open University, are beginning a major 3-year, AHRC-funded grant project on ‘Reframing Russia for the Global Mediasphere: From Cold War to “Information War”?’
The RA will support Hutchings and Tolz with discourse, historical and political analysis. S/he will manage and catalogue television recordings and pursue broadcast news stories through their online manifestations. S/he will co-author articles, contribute one article of her/his own on a relevant topic, and work alongside a second RA based at the Open University in gathering other research sources and producing reports for our non-academic partners.
Available from June 1 2017 or as soon thereafter as possible, the post is for 2 years full time, and a third year at 0.3 FTE. The RA will require excellent knowledge of Russian and English, having completed a PhD on media, culture and/or politics-related issues in contemporary Russian Studies or equivalent.
