This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious graduate with the ability and confidence to manage a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project with Forth Engineering Ltd.   

The University of Manchester and Forth Engineering Ltd are looking to recruit a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in Mechatronic or Electrical & Electronic Engineering to undertake this 29-month project that has the overall aim of developing underwater robot technology for application in the nuclear industry.

The position will provide you with a unique opportunity to lead the transfer of knowledge and technology from the University of Manchester through to the nuclear industry. Nuclear Engineering and Robotics are major growth areas in the UK and this position should provide you with the ideal opportunity to start a fruitful career in these exciting sectors of industry.

After the completion of this project, it is anticipated that you will join Forth Engineering Ltd in a full time permanent position.

You will require a good undergraduate degree and PhD (or equivalent) in Electrical & Electronic or have similar experience. Candidates with experience in Communication Systems or Signal Processing would be particularly welcome.

This post is funded through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) award, a UK Government scheme intended to promote sustained and mutually beneficial relationships between universities and industry. 

Based at Forth Engineering Ltd in west Cumbria, you will work directly with supervisors from both the University and Forth Engineering Ltd and will use the facilities and resources of both organisations.
