Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Modern British History at the University of Manchester. Applications from candidates with research interests that map onto one or more of History’s existing research groups (Capital at Manchester; Cultural History of War; Embodied Emotions; Histories of Humanitarianism; Political Cultures) are particularly welcome although other research areas are encouraged to apply.

In REF 2014, History outputs were placed joint 4th nationally. Modern British History at Manchester is a dynamic field owing to a tradition of pioneering research and world-class resources.

You will have an outstanding record of academic publication in Modern British History, compatible with inclusion in our submission to REF 2021 and appropriate to their career stage. You will contribute to existing undergraduate and postgraduate courses. These team-taught courses are subject to review and revision at regular intervals in order to incorporate the interests of new staff. At level 3 you will devise and teach a specialist course based on their area of research expertise. At Senior Lecturer level, you will be expected to undertake academic administration and leadership roles.

 Interview date: Friday 8th December 2017

Interviews will include a research presentation and an evaluated teaching demonstration.
