We are seeking a full-time Research Associate to join the University’s joint CRUK/EPSRC Cancer Imaging Centre with the University of Cambridge to investigate the use of mass spectrometry imaging methods for the characterisation of cancerous tumours. The mass spectrometry imaging research will complement ongoing studies using other imaging modalities, in particular, positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

You will have significant experience at PhD level of the use of mass spectrometry and ideally mass spectrometry imaging, with experience in sample preparation techniques pertinent to biological samples.  An excellent team player, you will be expected to work closely with other research staff. You will be expected to attend and contribute to various meetings and summer schools.  Based on the site of the Christie Hospital in South Manchester, the WMIC is an exciting multi-modality imaging research environment equipped with a range of imaging modalities.  The position offers excellent opportunities for networking and training, both within Manchester and with the University of Cambridge.

The post will be tenable on a fixed term basis until 30 November 2018, with the possibility of extension depending on the outcome of funding applications.
