The Faculty of Science and Engineering seeks to appoint a talented, innovative and enthusiastic senior manager to the role of Head of Faculty Teaching, Learning and Student Experience to work as part of the newly constituted faculty office team. This is a key, senior role in the Faculty and requires a suitably qualified and committed individual who is an experienced, confident manager, capable of translating strategy into operational delivery. The successful candidate will also have wide-ranging experience in leading and successfully implementing significant organisational and process change projects.
The Head of Faculty Teaching, Learning and Student Experience will work closely with the Director of Operations to ensure the provision of high level strategic and administrative support and advice to the Vice President and Dean, Vice-Dean for Teaching, Learning & Students, and Associate Dean for Graduate Education on all matters relating to teaching and learning across the Faculty. As part of the Faculty’s PSS Leadership Team, they will be responsible for ensuring leadership and management of process and organisational change projects and will work closely with colleagues in Schools, Faculty Office and across the wider University.
You will be responsible to the Vice President and Dean and the Director of Faculty Operations for leading and managing the student recruitment activity across the Faculty and for overseeing the delivery of Faculty student number targets. They will also be responsible for ensuring that the Faculty’s academic programmes at undergraduate and taught postgraduate and research level are delivered appropriately and that the student experience is positive. They will ensure consistency of policy, processes, structure and procedures, disseminate and embed best practice, and will manage a multidisciplinary team of professional staff.
You will also formally act as Deputy to the Director of Faculty Operations across all functional areas within the Faculty and will represent the Faculty at University level as required.
You will have significant proven experience of leading a team through change and be able to demonstrate a high level of knowledge and understanding of the delivery of teaching and learning within Higher Education. You will have experience of strategic leadership and management and proven contribution to achieving Faculty and University strategic vision and aims. You will have strong interpersonal skills, a well-developed knowledge of systems & services for Academic Services, and experience of managing and developing a significant team with a multitude of project responsibilities.
