This is an exceptional opportunity for a new appointment for a Senior Clinical Lecturer Lung Cancer Research and Honorary Consultant in Clinical Oncology at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. We seek an ambitious, innovative individual to provide medical and research input in the field of lung cancer.
The role offers an exciting opportunity to join a highly motivated and empowered workforce to increase research capacity and deliver innovative treatment in compliance with Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP), Trust policy and other relevant requirements. You will be responsible for seeing new referrals, follow-ups and for managing the patient throughout all aspects of their treatment experience.
The post will have access to world class clinical facilities to conduct thoracic radiotherapy-related research in The Christie and Manchester Cancer Research Centre clinical research environment. In addition, there are excellent opportunities for translational research working with local groups within The University of Manchester and for collaboration with world-class physicists and medical oncologists. Manchester is also the first designated Cancer Research UK Lung Cancer Centre of Excellence – awarded jointly to Manchester and University College London (UCL) in 2014.
You will be expected to develop and lead a programme of externally-funded research work and lead a programme of radiotherapy-related clinical research for lung cancer within the Manchester Cancer Research Centre Lung Cancer Group and in close collaboration with the current team. You will develop and co-ordinate existing and emerging strengths to ensure that in Manchester the standards in lung cancer research and treatment are internationally leading. An interest in imaging research is desirable
You will also provide evidence of productive research relevant to oncology through a PhD, and of relevant undergraduate teaching. Excellent communication, interpersonal and clinical leadership skills are also essential.
