The Politics Department at the University of Manchester invites applications for a lectureship/senior lectureship in Chinese Politics. You will join a Department with three faculty already working on China. To complement their focus on China’s international affairs, we are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in any aspect of China’s domestic politics.
You will work closely with both a Politics research cluster (see below) and the new Manchester China Institute, which seeks to promote mutual understanding and trust in UK-China relations. Thanks to a visionary £5M gift, MCI will make China studies at The University of Manchester among the very best in the world.
Lectureship applicants must have, or be about to complete, a relevant PhD and demonstrate the potential to produce high-quality publications and to provide excellent teaching. Senior Lectureship applicants must already have a relevant PhD and a proven track record of high quality publications, excellent teaching, evidence of academic leadership, research grant income potential, successful supervision of doctoral students, and experience of administration/ management.
As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. As the School is committed to Athena SWAN principles, we would particularly welcome applications from women, who are currently under-represented at this grade. All appointments will be made on merit.
