The School of Arts Languages and Cultures at the University of Manchester invites applications for a permanent, full-time lectureship in Liberal Arts, tenable from 1 January 2019.

As part of a strategic investment aimed at strengthening and developing interdisciplinary research and teaching goals, the School invites applications for the new position of Lecturer in Liberal Arts.

We would welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate innovation, leadership, and vision around interdisciplinary research and teaching. You will be expected to create a strong identity around the new Liberal Arts & Humanities programme, and contribute to the development of a course portfolio that extends interdisciplinary ways of teaching e.g. new courses that explore cross-cutting issues, topics and themes across the humanities, the social sciences and the sciences. You will also work to develop the intellectual agenda of the Liberal Arts & Humanities programme in partnership with other Schools and Faculties within the University, and with the city of Manchester’s cultural assets.

You will also be expected to play an active role in the research culture of the School, and pursue research in their areas of specialisation. Applications are encouraged from candidates whose research addresses interdisciplinary subjects that link broad fields within, and beyond, the arts and humanities.

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons.
