The School of Arts, Languages and Cultures at the University of Manchester invites applications for a permanent, full-time Lectureship or Senior Lectureship in Modern Art History tenable from 1 September 2019.  Applications are particularly welcome from specialists in one or more subfields of modernism in its global and/or non-western dimensions.  Potential areas of expertise may include, but are not limited to, architecture and urbanism and/or the history of photography.  You must have a completed PhD in a relevant field and an excellent publication record commensurate with his/her career stage, along with evidence of strong future research potential.  Relevant teaching experience and a commitment to innovation in teaching and to enhancing the student experience are essential, as are clear ambitions to develop our links with museums and galleries in both teaching and research.  An interest in the history of exhibitions, display or collecting, and the ability to contribute to teaching in those areas is highly desirable.

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. As we are committed to the principles of the Race Equality Charter Mark, we would particularly welcome applications from the black and minority ethnic (BME) community who are currently under-represented at this level in this area.  All appointments will be made on merit.
