The Manchester China Institute (MCI) seeks to appoint a Research Associate Postdoctoral Fellow in China and Globalisation commencing September 2019.
Manchester China Institute Director Peter Gries will supervise your project on China and globalisation broadly conceived. You will be based in MCI’s Lee Kai Hung Postdoctoral College.
You will have a PhD by the time of appointment in a humanities or social science discipline, advanced knowledge of China and Mandarin Chinese, as well as a demonstrable ability to publish in top academic journals.
The Manchester China Institute, which seeks to improve mutual understanding in UK-China relations, received a £5M donation in 2018. It supports a vibrant China studies research community at the University of Manchester, a global top-30 research institution that boasts the largest Chinese student population of any University in Europe. Manchester is also home to the second largest Chinese community in Europe, and plays a major role in UK-China relations.
