A fixed term (1 year) Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available based at the

Manchester Institute of Biotechnology, University of Manchester.

The University of Manchester’s Synthetic Biology Research Centre (SYNBIOCHEM), which is focused on the delivery of SynBio solutions for the sustainable production of fine and speciality chemicals, has joined together with the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) on a programme to deliver SynBio solutions for the generation of novel synthetic biomaterials to address multiple challenges.

As part of the University Dstl partnership we wish to recruit a Research Associate to join our interdisciplinary team and apply our SynBio platforms to the development of next generation synthetic biomaterials with enhanced properties.

You will be working as part of a vibrant and rapidly expanding interdisciplinary SynBio research group based in the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology (MIB), to undertake research that harnesses the potential of SynBio to engineer new materials towards manufacture at an industrial scale. For this highly interdisciplinary position we will consider candidates who hold a PhD from a variety of fields including biochemical, biomolecular, biomechanical or bioengineering sciences. 

Candidates will be expected to have demonstrated the ability to publish in high quality scientific journals and to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.
