The Centre of Atmospheric Sciences is seeking an excellent scientist to work on a combined experimental-modelling programme to study the nature of particle freezing process, and their impact on clouds.  HOLO-ICE aims to improve our fundamental understanding of the nature, and impact, or particle-particle interactions which occur in supercooled clouds. The successful applicant will be responsible for constructing and operating a new High Speed Holographic Imaging System to study particle interaction using a variety of particle generation systems.  She/he will construct and conduct laboratory experiments which will investigate the freezing behavior of individual droplets and droplets interacting with a variety of other particle types. In addition to laboratory experiments, he/she will, carry out data analysis using holographic inversions, and collaborate with numerical modellers. This is an exciting opportunity for a scientist with a strong interest in cloud microphysics and a track record in particle imaging and holography.
