The Particle Physics group at the University of Manchester requests applications for a position working on the Vertex Detector of the LHCb Upgrade at the LHC at CERN. The work is part of an STFC funded research activity within the University of Manchester LHCb group. The post holder is expected to work primarily on the construction and commissioning of the LHCb silicon vertex detector (VELO) upgrade modules. The University of Manchester group are responsible for constructing and testing silicon pixel detector modules for this new detector and contribute to the FPGA firmware. This is a challenging project to deliver a radiation hard high precision pixel detector with 40MHz readout that operates in vacuum.  The group also works on a range of detector development activities including future developments for the ATLAS Upgrade pixel end-caps and the DUNE Liquid argon Time Projection Chamber.

The successful candidates will have experience in detector development and/or detector operation.
