Contract Duration: Starting as soon as possible for 2 years

The Division is seeking to appoint two health economists with knowledge of the evaluation and valuation of health care services to join our leading research Centre for Health Economics.

The appointed health economists will work under supervision to implement programmes of work that focus on either (i) the development or application of decision-analytic modelling to understand the impact of risk-stratified interventions or (ii) the use of routine and trial data in decision-analytic based economic evaluations in primary care and mental health. You will be primarily based in the Manchester Centre for Health Economics.

One post involves to implement a programme of work that focuses on three projects that involve the use of risk-based algorithms to inform the use of health care interventions (breast cancer screening and primary prevention of cardiovascular disease and osteoporotic fracture). This post will be line-managed by Katherine Payne, Professor of Health Economics.

One post involves working with combining the use of routine and trial data to estimate effectiveness with economic modelling techniques in primary care and mental health. This post will be line-managed by Rachel Elliott, Professor of Health Economics.

The successful candidates are expected to work with a large research team including health economists, clinicians, imaging scientists, molecular scientists, biostatisticians, informaticians, implementation scientists, service users and commissioners.
