Applications are invited for a Data Centre Infrastructure Management Network Engineer position available on the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project, Dept of Physics & Astronomy, University of Manchester. Reporting to the UoM’s SKA Project Manager the DCIM Engineer will work closely with the SKAO’s Network Architect and Compute and Networks Agile design team. Liaising with numerous SKAO colleagues and third-party design consultants, the DCIM Engineer will have the primary responsibility for: inputting into and managing and controlling the SKA’s Compute and Network designs in NetTerrain; managing the NetTerrain software and its licensing; providing assistance to colleagues to use the tool; and taking responsibility for the quality assurance of networking documentation by working with the SKAO’s configuration management team.
This post is available as soon as possible with contract completion on 30th Sept 2022, with a possible extension after that date depending on further funding. Applicants should have significant experience in network engineering and design as well as data centre infrastructure management skills. You should also be well-organised and self-motivated with excellent oral and communication skills.
