The Music Department at the University of Manchester invites applications for a temporary lectureship in Ethnomusicology, tenable from 1 August 2021 (or as soon as possible thereafter) until 30 June 2022. This opportunity has become available due to the need to provide teaching cover for a member of staff on maternity leave.
You will be expected to convene and deliver course-units in Ethnomusicology across the curriculum, contribute to other teaching at undergraduate and Master’s level as required (including dissertation supervision), and contribute to the management and administration of the department under the guidance of the Head of Music. While the post is teaching-focused, you will also be encouraged to contribute to the research culture of the department.
You will hold a PhD or equivalent in Music / Ethnomusicology, demonstrate subject expertise in your specialist field, have a strong awareness of current thinking in the field, and have a proven ability to provide high-quality and innovative teaching to a range of student groups at different levels.
As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments will be made on merit.
