The Faculty of Science & Engineering at the University of Manchester seeks an enthusiastic, high quality candidate for a Reader/Chair position in Digital Engineering for Nuclear Fusion, one of six appointments to be made through a new collaboration between the University and UKAEA. The successful candidate will establish and lead a group of three academics in the broad area of development and deployment of digital engineering. Research relevant to fusion energy technology will be a major, but not exclusive, focus of the group. While there are particular interests in AI; Digital Twins; HPC & Simulation; and Impacts on Deployment, these are not exclusive and other relevant areas of expertise are also of interest. The work of this Digital Engineering for Nuclear Fusion group will complement that of another group being established in Tritium Science & Technology.
The successful candidate will be expected to undertake teaching within the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
Applicants must have a BEng or BSc (Hons) or equivalent, and a PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject.
