This project will investigate whether the skins microbiota contains bacteria capable of modifying inflammatory pathways. This 2 year industry funded project will be carried out in the laboratory of Professor Cath O’Neill whose group has general interests in host-bacterial interactions in skin.

This project will develop models of inflammation and screen bacteria for their anti-inflammatory abilities in these models. Mechanism of action work will also be conducted.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience of ELISA, flow cytometry, tissue sectioning and staining and primary cell culture. Some experience of basic microbiological techniques would be advantageous.
