The Centre of Atmospheric Sciences is seeking an excellent scientist to work on a major UK air quality research project. The Integrated Research Observation System for Clean Air (OSCA) project is part of the UKRI Clean Air: Analysis and Solutions Programme that seeks to predict future changes in the sources, emissions and atmospheric processes responsible for air pollution. The role is to have responsibility for measurements of gas and particle pollutants at the Manchester Air Quality Supersite, an observatory maintained by the University of Manchester. You will be responsible for ensuring that the air quality supersite in Manchester operates continuously, the instruments are all maintained and regularly calibrated and serviced. You will carry out quality assurance of the data sets produced and deliver final data products to appropriate data centres. You will work with the data to address some of the key questions involving sources of air pollution in UK cities, including source apportionment of PM, ultrafine particle behaviour and quantification of secondary organic aerosol. This is an exciting opportunity for a scientist with a strong interest in atmospheric air pollution measurements and a track record in data analysis who is keen to work in a highly collaborative and multi-disciplinary team.
