A 2 years postdoctoral position is open in the Advanced Processor Group at the University of Manchester in the UK, in the domain of systems software security. A particular focus of the position is low-level kernel development and software compartmentalization.
You will join the FlexOS project [1, 2], that investigates the development of flexible isolation and hardening features within operating systems and applications. The postdoc will explore porting FlexOS to a hardware capability CPU prototype, ARM Morello [3, 4].
Computer science or computer engineering PhD graduates (or equivalent) with a background and publication record in systems software and/or systems security are sought.

As this role involves research at a postgraduate level, applicants who are not an EEA national or a national of an exempt country and who will require sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route of the UK Visas and Immigration’s (UKVI) Points Based System in order to take up the role, will be required to apply for an Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) Certificate and will need to obtain this prior to making any official visa application UKVI)
