Applications are invited for the post of Research Associate in Immersive Technology Teaching Platforms. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our vibrant team and help deliver our innovative proposed “virtual reality-based MACE Digital Workshop Research Project” which aims to develop “digital twins” of critical mechanical workshop teaching activities including turning, milling and drilling, so as to complement existing traditional hands-on and in turn improve students’ overall learning experiences. The core responsibilities of the position holder shall be to apply their existing research, technical expertise and skills in the field of Interaction Design and Human-Computer-Interaction to design, build, test and communicate the outputs of immersive experience (especially virtual reality). You must have a problem-solving approach to meeting the overall and specific project deliverables.
You will have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline and previous experience of at least one of Digital Media, Interaction Design, Computing, Engineering. You should also have a strong level of expertise to conduct quantitative and qualitative research to compare knowledge retention between traditional and immersive delivery techniques.
