A Research Associate position is available for an enthusiastic polymer scientist to undertake research in the field of polymer recycling, particularly in improving the mechanical recycling of key packaging plastics. The project will be based in the Sustainable Materials Innovation Hub under the direction of Prof. Michael Shaver as part of a diverse team addressing academic and industry challenges in sustainable polymer science.

You should have, or be working towards, a PhD or equivalent in synthetic polymer chemistry or a closely related field. Expertise in polymer sustainability is essential, ideally with experience in polymer extrusion or processing, mechanical recycling or polymer characterisation. Experience with high temperature gel-permeation chromatography and mechanical recycling are an asset but not essential. You should be capable of working under your own initiative, collaborating with others, and should evidence excellent communication and organisational skills.
