The University of Manchester has over 16,000 students and staff taking part in organised sport and physical activity through the University. Delivery of our sport and physical activity strategy is through UoM Sport which is based across our campuses primarily in Fallowfield at the Armitage Sports Centre and in Manchester University Students’ Union on Oxford Road. Our activities take place across the city utilising a range of city facilities in supporting our community being active and promoting physical activity opportunities through our facilities and programmes.
The University is therefore looking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic person to supervise and coordinate the daily operation of the University’s sport facilities at the Armitage Sports Centre. Facilities include sports halls, gym, dance studio, squash courts and extensive outdoor synthetic and grass pitches.
Applicants must have experience of key holding responsibilities in sport facilities and coordinating services within indoor and outdoor venues.
Responsibilities within the role include supervising a team of sports centre assistants, sports ground maintenance, setting up and dismantling equipment, administering first aid, daily upkeep of all public areas and delivering excellent customer service to all users. Effective communication, attention to detail and customer care skills are essential to provide a welcoming and friendly environment.
We are therefore looking for an enthusiastic and engaging individual to join UoM Sport to support our students and staff being more physically active in our programmes and facilities.
Applicants should possess a recognised qualification in Sports Leadership, fitness instruction and / or grounds maintenance to a minimum level of NVQ level 3 or equivalent is desirable.
Applicants will be required to work on a fixed shift pattern which includes daytime evenings and weekends and include key holder responsibilities.
This role is customer facing and therefore is either mostly or entirely campus based without the opportunity for hybrid working.
