Applications are invited for the above post, to start in January 2023 or at a mutually agreed alternative date. We are looking for academics of outstanding ability, who are seeking a friendly, supportive and collegial environment in which to develop as world-class researchers and teachers, and who will contribute to the continued development of the Financial and Actuarial Mathematics (FAM) provision within the Probability & Statistics Group, Department of Mathematics, in the School of Natural Sciences.

Applicants are sought in any area of Financial Mathematics that complements or extends existing expertise in the Department. Current research themes within FAM including financial risk management, stochastic control, pricing of financial instruments, portfolio analysis, time series models stochastic risk processes and machine learning in Finance (see https://www.maths.manchester.ac.uk/research/expertise/financial-mathematics/ ). 

Applicants should have an outstanding track record of research in Financial Mathematics or a closely related area (with allowance made for career breaks) and a genuine commitment to, and enthusiasm for, teaching, research and the development of others. There are many opportunities to engage with other researchers at the University including the Alliance Manchester Business School ( https://www.alliancembs.manchester.ac.uk/  ) and the Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (https://www.idsai.manchester.ac.uk/  ).  We are also a University Partner of the Alan Turing Institute (the UK national institute for data science). 

The Department of Mathematics is offering two related and highly successful MSc programmes:  the MSc in Mathematical Finance, https://www.manchester.ac.uk/study/masters/courses/list/02250/msc-mathematical-finance/  , and the MSc in Actuarial Science, https://www.manchester.ac.uk/study/masters/courses/list/08603/msc-actuarial-science/ .
The successful applicant is expected to contribute to the further development and delivery of these and related programmes.
