School / Directorate: Whitworth Art Gallery

In 1889, we were England’s first art gallery to be built in a park. In 2014, we’re transforming the building to bring the inside out, and outside in.   The reopened Whitworth will include two new wings, embracing the park, an art garden and orchard garden created by award-winning landscape designer Sarah Price and a significant number of new outdoor sculptures.  As part of our work outside and commitment to all things green, we are recruiting two new posts.

As Landscape and Sustainability Technician you will provide year-round care and maintenance of the Gallery’s grounds, landscaping, external sculpture and sustainability work.  You will also actively promote and contribute to sustainability initiatives in landscape and building management.  You will have a formal horticultural qualification/significant skilled horticultural and landscaping experience, be prepared to work in all weathers and be friendly and approachable.

If you would like to be a part of our work in the park, you may also be interested in our Cultural Park Keeper role.
