This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious graduate with the ability and confidence to manage a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project with Quay Pharmaceuticals Limited.

The University of Manchester and Quay Pharmaceuticals Limited are looking to recruit a qualified post-doctoral associate to undertake this 30 month project. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of novel systems, to directly stabilise bacteria following harvesting, so as to eliminate the lyophilisation process. The Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) aims to increase yields of the bacterial drug substance, as high levels of degradation and losses do occur during the lyophilisation- freeze-drying process. The KTP goals are to improve dehydration procedures through the development of alternatives to lyophilisation, which may include novel formulation processes. This will revolutionise the current process by significantly decreasing bacterial losses, following fermenter harvesting.

You will be required to have a degree at bachelor’s or master’s Level, in the fields of microbiology, biochemistry, biological sciences or biotechnology plus a PhD in Microbiology or equivalent, with strong research experience.

This post is funded through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) award, a UK Government scheme intended to promote sustained and mutually beneficial relationships between universities and industry.

Based at The University of Manchester and Quay Pharmaceuticals Limited, 28 Parkway, Deeside Industrial Park, Deeside, CH5 2NS, you will work directly with supervisors from both the University and Quay Pharmaceuticals Limited and will use the facilities and resources of both organisations.

As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status.  All appointments are made on merit.

Due to the nature of the funding, KTP Associates who have already completed a KTP are not eligible to apply.
